When you sell a property in Spain you may have to pay two property taxes:
1. Capital Gains Tax (incremento de patrimonio): is a tax payable on the profit made on the sale of a property.
2. Plusvalía is the tax charged on the increase in the officially assessed value of the land your property stands on, since it was last sold. The rate varies according to location, land size and the time that has elapsed since the last transfer of title. It applies to both new and resale properties, and is a local tax paid to the town hall.
